Art of Mentoring
April 7, 2014 @ 12:00 pm - April 12, 2014 @ 5:00 pm
The Piedmont Wildlife Center is sponsoring an Art of Mentoring (AoM) event in Efland, NC April 7 – 12, 2014. It is the first AoM held in the southeast!
The Art of Mentoring is an immersion into a living, learning culture of nature and self-awareness. It reinforces knowledge, tools and practices that enrich the relationships that allow us to sustain a culture of connection in all aspects of your life, community and projects.
It is a multi-generational course aimed at trainers from diverse fields seeking to connect others to nature. In this week-long residential course you will receive an experiential introduction to the ‘8 Shields’ nature-based map for healthy culture, team building and learning. There are teen and youth programs running concurrently to the adult journey, to offer an inter-generational mentoring experience.”
8 Shields was founded by Jon Young, author of What the Robin Knows: How Birds Reveal the Secrets of the Natural World and Coyote’s Guide to Connecting with Nature.
Here are the different programs that make up Art of Mentoring 2014. These programs run side-by-side. People of all ages will share meals, a central fire and many community experiences. During the week, we will balance our time between age-centric program groupings and whole community “village-time”.
