Becoming a Deeper Green Church

In this era that is described by many as a troubling ecological time, Rev. Dr. Jerry Cappel, Environmental Ministry Coordinator, Province IV, The Episcopal Church, in his essay (to be published) entitled Deeper Green Churches  Rev. Cappel says, “the church remains barely moved by the injustices and spiritual disconnects environmental issues such as pollution, collapsing ecosystems and climate change bring to their altars”. In discussing this essay, we will explore: 1) why it is that in many of our churches Creation care operates only in the periphery of our spiritual and corporate lives, 2) why it is important to move it to a more central place, and 3) how do we incorporate Creation care into our worship, teaching and how we think about justice in order to restore the all important God-Earth-Humanity-relationship.
