Climate Destabilization: Our Long Slow Emergency – Video & Discussion

July 8, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

CLIMATE DESTABILIZATION: OUR LONG SLOW EMERGENCY
VIDEO & DISCUSSION NIGHT ~ 2 nd Sunday of each month
PRACTICES AND ACTIONS TO CREATE RESILIENCE ~ 4 th Sunday of each month, 6:30-8:00pm
On the 2 nd Sunday of each month, 6:30-8:30pm, we show a different climate video and discuss a range of important issues and options to address them, both individually and collectively.
Our perspective is that the core ecological problem is not climate change, but rather it is an overshoot, of which our climate destabilization is a symptom. We have overshot the ability, i.e.,“carrying capacity”, of the earth to support the population by using up resources faster than they can be replenished. In the process, we’ve put an amount of CO2 into the atmosphere that has destabilized our climate.
“There can be no greater crime against humanity than the destruction of conditions that make human life possible…” Lawrence Torcello
We are in an unprecedented time of risk, uncertainty, and opportunity … and with some urgency, we are called to greater participation to serve our Emerging Future.
Join us for this important discussion of how we move forward to create an Earth Community of justice, sustainability, and peace! Bring your comments, questions, and ideas. Free! Open to all!
