Creative Resistance: Fighting Toxins / Fossil Fuels

Opening by Rev. Rodney Sadler. How do fossil fuels impact your health and the well-being of our communities? How do you fight back?

Join acclaimed ecologist and author Dr. Sandra Steingraber as she explores the links between human rights and the environment and offers insights on how to protect ourselves and our communities from the toxic impact of fossil fuels.

Immediately after, join us for a panel discussion with water science expert, Dr. Ryan Emmanuel as well as community members fighting back against these toxic impacts here in N.C. with representatives of the NAACP and ACT Against Coal Ash.

Sandra Steingraber, Ph.D., is a biologist, author and cancer survivor who writes about the connections between the environment and human health. Her book, Living Downstream: An Ecologist’s Personal Investigation of Cancer and the Environment, has been turned into an acclaimed documentary. Steingraber’s published articles and poetry provide a lyrical counterpoint to scientific reports and press releases about America’s environmental crisis.
