Encyclical Study – Chapel Hill
October 11, 2015 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am
Adult Sunday School, 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall – For three Sundays in October, Adult Education together with the Earth Care and the Justice-Peace Committees will offer classes on Pope Francis’ climate change Encyclical, Laudato Si’ (“Praise be to you, my Lord.”). The first class on October 11 will be led by Kay-Robert Volkwijn as he focuses on the question “How did we get here?” The second class on October 18 will be led by Nancy Corson Carter on “Where are we now?” With this question in mind, Nancy will report on the Presbyterians for Earth Care Conference at Montreat, September 15-18. The third class on October 25 will be led by Mark Davidson on “What is our vision for the future?” Mark will look at actions we can take to reform the way we relate to our common home. Pope Francis calls us all to engage in dialogue and compassionate action now “for the sake of protecting nature, defending the poor, and building networks of respect and fraternity.”
