Energy, Faith, and Climate Change
May 4, 2014 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am
FreeEnvironmentalist Robert Swann said “The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.” From science we know the Earth is warming at an unnatural rate and humans are causing that by polluting the atmosphere with greenhouse gases. This human activity is causing loss of life, and the suffering is mainly (at this time) among the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized. Climatologist, Jim Hansen has proposed a course of action to protect nature and future generations from the most dangerous consequences of climate change by reducing emissions. Dr. Carl Sigel will discuss where our energy comes from, how we use energy, and how we can all contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions as we work to save the planet.
These presentations are sponsored by North Carolina Interfaith Power & Light, the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, and the Environmental Ministry Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of NC.
