Hurricane Resilience: America Acts on Climate Part 3

September 15, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

The 2014 Hurricane Season launched with North Carolina’s coast as a direct target.  We made it through ‘Arthur’ but have a whole alphabet of potential storms to prepare for this summer.

“Hurricane Resilience: America Acts on Climate” is a series of three educational events in Morehead City, NC.  The first two meetings in July and August were very successful.

On Monday, September 15, 2014, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, North Carolina Interfaith Power & Light is co-sponsoring the third event in this series with The Croatan Group of NC Sierra Club.  Meet and greet begins at 6:30 PM; the talk will begin at 7:00 PM.

Dr. Stanley R. Riggs of the Department of Geologic Sciences at East Carolina University will be giving a talk on North Carolina’s Land of Water (NC LOW):  A Vision for the Future of an Embattled Coastal System.

This event will be held at the Carteret Community College and is free and open to the public.

Engaging communities in “climate conversations” about local impacts leads people not only to prepare for impending disasters, but to be inspired to prevent them preemptively.
