Methane Pollution: A Growing Thread to Our Climate & Public Health

November 16, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Did you know that the proposed 600-mile Atlantic Coast natural gas pipeline would run approximately parallel to Interstate 95 through NC? It would carry natural gas from fracking operations in WV and PA. Methane is a dangerous gas, which is released with the production of natural gas and also from many other sources. The Sierra Club proposes that alternative energies should be explored before further infrastructure is built depending on fossil fuels.

Come to one of these three events to learn why methane is such a problematic pollutant, and why this pipeline is a not the best use of utility resources at this time. Following the power point presentation, Croatan Conservation Chair Penny Hooper and Crystal Coast Waterkeeper Larry Baldwin will answer questions and lead a discussion on this topic.
