Moral March on Raleigh HKonJ People’s Assembly

February 8, 2014 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

Stand up for what you love and be a part of the 8th annual HKonJ (Historic Thousands on Jones St.) rally for social and environmental justice. Projections are that the rally will be the largest yet, building on the Moral Monday gatherings of last year.

NC Interfaith Power & Light will be marching with a coalition of environmental groups as the moral voice of our faith communities, concerned about our impact on the quality of life for generations to come. We will meet between 9:30 and 10:00 am at the intersection of E. Cabarrus and S. Blount Street in downtown Raleigh, and we will head over to the Shaw University campus at 10:00 am sharp to meet up with the rest of the marchers.

At 10:30 am, the march will leave Shaw for Jones Street, where the People’s Assembly will be held on the doorstep of the NC General Assembly and speakers will address a range of pressing issues.

The HKonJ People’s Coalition Assembly is made up of more than 125 North Carolina NAACP branches and approximately 150 other social justice groups from across the state that support HKonJ’s 14-Point People’s Agenda.

More information on the Assemby is on the HKonJ website, including information on logistics and transportation.

Directions
Environmental contingent meets at 9:30 am at corner of E. Cabarrus and S. Blount Streets, proceeding at 10 am to Shaw University (South St. between Wilmington and Blount Streets), then marching to the NC Legislative Building, 16 West Jones Street, at 10:30 am.
