Showing and Discussion of “Chasing Ice” Documentary
April 25, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeAs part of Earth Week observance, Pittsboro Presbyterian Church invites the community to a viewing of the award winning documentary, Chasing Ice. The event takes place on Friday April 25 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall located at 95 East St. Pittsboro (just east of the traffic circle). Parking is available on street or in the gravel lot adjacent to the church.
The evening begins with a pizza by the slice light dinner (or bring your own meal) followed by Chasing Ice and discussion. Chasing Ice is the gripping story of one man’s epic quest to capture in still images and video the remnants of dying glaciers; thus the title, Chasing Ice. For National Geographic photographer James Balog and his Extreme Ice Survey (EIS) crew that began their work in 2007, this herculean expedition is a race against time. The ice melt in Greenland, Iceland, Alaska and Montana is captured in iconic images never before seen by human eyes. The grandeur of the photography and videography and the passion of Balog to tell the story against all odds make for a riveting viewing experience in itself.
