With a federal proposal on the table to open Atlantic waters to drilling, now is the time for residents in the affected states to learn more about the issue, dialogue with one another, and take action!!!
The overwhelming response to offshore drilling from communities on the NC Coast is “no!” On March 1, 2016, the NC Council of Churches issued a statement opposing offshore drilling, which you can read at: http://www.facebook.com/events/1778200365743686/.
Shore Stories features six short documentaries that shed light on the proposal to lease Atlantic waters off the southeast coast of the United States for drilling. Some of the films highlight stories from past oil and gas exploration – including the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster. Others portray the beauty of the coast that many are worried could be lost if drilling were to begin.
