In January, the Obama Administration announced a draft-drilling plan that includes opening up the North Carolina coast to offshore drilling. In an effort to educate the public about the risks associated with offshore oil exploration, Environment North Carolina, 350 Triangle, Care of Creation Sunday School Class at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church, and Pickards Mountain Eco-Institute are hosting free showings of The Great Invisible.
The Great Invisible documents the fallout of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion, providing first-hand accounts from Gulf Coast community member’s ongoing experience with the disaster, which killed 11 people, and caused the largest offshore oil spill in American history.
