Universe Story Walk in Greensboro

Retell the 14-billion year history of the Universe by walking along a 1/2 mile trail through the woods at 5911 Western Trail.  The group will set off at 3:30 after a brief introduction by astronomer Dennis Hands, professor at High Point University.  At intervals of 100′ there are readings about the emergence of the Universe in billion-year stages.  Each reading ends with a reflective prompt allowing walkers’ personal experiences to resonate with the journey of the Universe.

This walk is based heavily on “The Universe Story” by Brian Swimme and Thomas Berry.  The walk was inaugurated by Thomas Berry in 1999 (photo at left) and has been visited by individuals and groups since then.
