We have a fortunate solar situation with a flat roof and no trees to shade so we planned to generate as much energy as we use with net metering lowering our purchased power to near zero. In February, 2023, we installed 38 panels. Now with 31 months of experience, almost 99% of our electric consumption has come from our panels, about 1% from Duke Progress Energy. We have paid Duke $78 while avoiding $6,000 in power bills. The only maintenance required has been replacement of one panel under warranty. So we have eliminated CO2 emissions by Duke while saving the Center a bundle over the 25-year outlook. Read the full story via PDF.
