Climate Change Solutions for NC – Raleigh

Join us, Saturday, Feb. 24th, from 9:30 am to 3 pm, as 350 Triangle hosts Climate Change Solutions for NC in Finlator Hall at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church, located at 1801 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh.
Bring friends and family with you to learn how we can move forward in the climate movement with actions, solutions, and resiliency! Spread the word!
We’re aiming for a ZERO WASTE event!!! Bring your own reusable water and coffee mugs, and pack a waste-free lunch with reusable utensils and containers!!
*After a welcome and introduction, we’ll have a short video from Bill McKibben, author and co-founder of 350.org.
*Bill Powers, author of Clean Path 2025, will join us by Skype from San Diego, joining Connie Leeper,Organizing Director of NC WARN, who will be with us, to talk about the Clean Path 2025 plan, to get the conversation started on 100% renewable energy.
*We’ll have several local city and county leaders speaking on a panel about the 100% renewable energy resolutions and plans they have passed, or are working to pass, then a breakout for people to learn about what they can do in their areas to move the resolutions and process forward.
So far local leaders include:
Mark Marcoplos and Renee Price — Orange County Commissioners
Jenn Weaver — Town of Hillsborough
Mike Dasher — Chatham County Commissioner
Sammy Slade — Town of Carrboro
Sig Hutchinson — Wake County Commissioner
Grady McCallie, Policy Director for NC Conservation Network, will give us an update on what to expect in the upcoming NC General Assembly session.
*After lunch, we’ll have Crystal Dreisbach from Don’t Waste Durham, speaking on food waste and more, and Julie Moore, founder of Fiberactive Organics, speaking on climate impacts of the fashion industry and solutions.
* Onté Johnson, Organizing Project Manager for NC Environmental Justice Network, will be speaking on environmental and climate justice. Betsey Downing, yoga teacher and Climate Reality leader, will share about resiliency as we move forward.
