Public Hearing 2019-2024 OCS Offshore Drilling Plan BOEM

This is the only public hearing scheduled in North Carolina thus far. Wear blue to signify opposition to offshore drilling and bring your family and friends. Tell BOEM that we don’t want offshore drilling in our Atlantic! It’s up to all of us to protect what we love so plan to do your part. This proposal is not identical to what Obama put forward. It is much further reaching, It deletes the 50 mile buffer which means drilling operations could be conducted as close as 3 miles offshore. The safeguards proposed for blowout preventers have been derailed. Inspections of drill rig operations are being reduced. Scientists have learned much more about the harm caused by seismic testing. This proposal has even more danger for our coast than the last one. All of these facts can be stated in your public comment along with how seismic testing and drilling operations will impact your life and enjoyment of our coastline.
