Trinity Presbyterian Church – Hendersonville, NC

September 9, 2024

In 2019 we installed 129 solar panels (47KW), raising over $84,000 in 4 weeks from 120 church members. The goal was to reduce our electricity by at least 50%-to-55%. By 2023, our KWh drawn from the grid were 90% LESS than our last year before solar (2018). The solar project led to the creation of the Earth Caring Ministry, which engaged in multiple educational and other projects within our grounds and community as well as outreaching into the larger community. By sharing our experience with other churches through Sunday school classes in other churches (which we humorously called “spreading the solar gospel”), our input clinched the decision in five other churches to go solar, and being one of the sponsors of Hendersonville’s first-ever Earth Day celebration in 2023 (HendoFest 2023).

Here is our solar story and link to a video prepared by our installers https://www.sugarhollowsolar.com/blog/trinity-presbyterian-solar-study.

In addition, anybody is welcome to draw from our experience downloading “Trinity’s Solar Journey” in a pdf format from: https://www.trinitypresnc.org/earth-caring

Feel free to contact us if you are remotely considering to install solar.
